Almost anything can be viewed on the internet. Unfortunately we cannot sit with our children every moment that they are the computer to make sure that they are using the internet as they should. Safe Eyes is a great parental control software that lets us know what our children are doing and helps us to limit what they can and cannot see.

What You Can Control & View

There are many things that you can see and control with Safe Eyes. Almost every aspect of the computer is encompassed in this program.

You will be able to control:

  • The time spent on the internet
  • You Tube filters
  • Websites
  • Media
  • iTunes music
  • Social networks
  • Online games
  • Email

Controlling the time spent on the internet is a crucial thing to be able to do. This way, you can ensure that your children are going on the internet when you have approved the time. They will adhere to your rules whether they like it or not simply because they won’t be able to access it during the other times. You can set it per day so that weekends are longer and they may not be able to access the internet after a certain time in the evening to prevent them from logging on when they should be sleeping.

You Tube, websites and other media filters are important because this will rule out videos with questionable material. You will be able to determine easily what they should and shouldn’t be able to view with a total of 35 categories. These will let you fine tune for specific computers in the house or for specific users so that a ten year-old would have a tighter control than the 16 year-old in your house.

iTunes can also be censored with Safe Eyes. This will allow you to control whether the songs downloaded can have explicit content or not. Many of the songs in today’s world have curse words throughout them so you may not want a preschooler to access these when they are trying to find something harmless to listen to.

Social networks are geared towards kids being able to connect with their friends. Unfortunately, they are also a prime way to target kids by people with less than favorable objectives. Children will post personal information on these sites without ever thinking twice. If they need a friend to call them, they’ll type out their home phone number on the page so that everyone else can see it. You need to find out if your children are putting the rest of your family in danger by sharing this information.

Online games can end up costing you or your children a lot of money if you aren’t watching what they are doing. Other games are simply a bad influence, providing ways to gamble or learning how to do things they don’t need to do. You can simply block all games or be specific so that if they are educational games, they can still play.

Finally, email is a large aspect of children’s lives. You will be able to see the log of emails that they see and be able to control online accessed emails such as Gmail, Yahoo, and others to ensure that they aren’t opening other email accounts to communicate with friends that you don’t know about. The account that goes through Outlook will allow you to control contacts so they cannot send emails to certain people.

You will also be able to see many things as well, which could potentially teach you a lot about your children. These things include:

  • IM Conversations
  • Websites visited
  • Personal information posted

Sifting through IM conversations can let you know who your children are conversing with and about what topics. You will be able to see both sides of the conversation, too. You can even set controls that will send you immediate notifications if certain content or words are coming up within the conversation live.

Websites visited and personal information posted will also be part of the daily or weekly logs that you receive so you can talk with your children or simply see what they are trying to access.

How Safe Eyes is Different

There are many controlling programs that will simply block a child or teen from visiting a certain site or posting certain data. Safe Eyes will give you a report of what is being done on the computer so that you can see everything that is going on. These reports can be sent daily, weekly, or monthly based upon your preferences. You can also receive alerts via telephone call, email, or text message immediately if certain sites are trying to be accessed or certain conversations are taking place as they are happening. This could allow you to enforce the rules closer or stop a potentially dangerous problem from occurring.

Something that makes Safe Eyes extremely unique is that the software resides on the company’s servers, not your home computer. You can access the program anywhere you have an internet connection, which means that you can change the settings at work if you forget that the kids have a day off from school or take away computer access from your children while on vacation.

The fact that the software resides on the company’s servers also means that you can put the program on multiple computers without having to buy more versions of the program. You can put it on as many as three PCs or Macs in your home and as many as 10 profiles, which should be sufficient for everyone in your home.

What You Can Learn

The amount of information you can learn about your children in the process is infinitely valuable. You can find out everything you ever needed to know about them and probably a little that you didn’t want to know.

Safe Eyes is not only about what you can learn but what you can teach as well. When you have the reports of what kind of activity is being conducted on the computer, it’s your chance to have conversations with your children.

Children may not know right or wrong yet and this is your chance to educate them. By knowing the sites that they are visiting and the information that they are sharing, you can discuss what information they should be giving out and what sites are “age appropriate.” Teenagers undoubtedly know that what they are viewing is wrong but they still need a conversation, too. You can find out why they are going on the sites and find out if they have questions that they aren’t currently getting from you. After having an adult-level conversation you may even choose to change some of the controls so that the teenagers in your house can feel like they are growing up, too.

When you need a way to control your children and their internet usage, Safe Eyes gives you more controls than any other parental control software program on the market. The data is concise and can give you immediate alerts so that you can avert serious problems before the situation gets too far. With this software program in place, the children will know who sets the rules in the house and learn to obey them very quickly.
