Resolution+ reviews adjacent areas of an image and correlates information from the millions of pixels within it. It then determines waveforms of a similar nature and combines pixel information to enhance edge detail and improve the perceived depth and texture within the final image.
Toshiba TVs – Dolby Volume
When changing between channels, TV to DVD, TV to a set top box etc., the volume can increase or decrease. Dolby® Volume keeps the volume at one level, making sure it doesn’t change when the input changes, enhancing the user’s experience.
This affect also occurs between TV programmes and adverts, resulting in an overall more pleasant audio visual experience.
When the volume is turned down, the depth of sound can be lost; Dolby® Volume ensures that the original sound quality is kept at lower volumes. It also ensures that the foreground and background sounds are balanced, so to keep the intended effect.
Toshiba TV – Active Vision M200 HD
This new technology inserts black sections in – between frames to produce a smoother, clearer picture.
As LCD TV’s use a hold technology to produce a picture if this picture is broken up with black sections this tricks the mind into seeing smoother images due to the hold not lasting as long.
Toshiba Television´s – Resolution+ Step by Step
1. A standard definition (SD) image from your digital set top box, aerial, MP3 player, laptop/P.C., games console or DVD is received and up scaled to near HD quality.
2. The freshly up scaled image is then down converted to SD quality to compare the newly created SD image to the original SD input signal.
3. Differentials between the original image and the downscaled images are detected and removed. This process of up scaling and the downscaling takes place three times, all in real time, so no delay can be seen.
4. On the final rotation, an SD image is output at close to HD quality, resulting in a clearer, sharper, richer image.
Toshiba Televisions – Auto View
Auto View is Toshiba’s unique technology that automatically adjusts picture settings depending on not only room lighting, but also the content shown on screen. Through the use of this technology, the user no longer has to constantly adjust backlight brightness and colour settings in order to find the best viewing experience in all environments.
The ambient light sensor is constantly adjusting the LCD’s backlight depending on the lighting condition in the room to provide the customer with a better viewing experience. In light rooms backlight is increased, in dark rooms backlight is dimmed. In conjunction with the ambient light sensor as content is viewed on screen dark and light pixels are constantly analysed and picture quality is adjusted to provide the best possible image.
Toshiba TV’s – USB Pro
Toshiba now takes connectivity and simplicity to a whole new level with built in USB and SD card slots. Rather than having to connect a P.C. to your TV in order to view JPEG, MP3™ and DivX® files, content can simply be moved onto USB or SD card and plugged straight into a TV.
Toshiba TVs – HDMI™ InstaPort
A wide range of HDMI™ devices are now available in the market and consumers are now connecting more and more of these to their TV.
When changing inputs consumers expect the source material to appear on screen immediately without delay. With HDMI™ this is not always the case.
With HDMI™ when a new source is selected the TV and the source device perform an HDCP authorisation routine which can take up to 6 seconds. InstaPort solves this problem.
TVs that support InstaPort technology perform the HDCP authorisation routine immediately upon connecting the device. Then when a user selects that source, it will begin to stream the content immediately – often within 1 second – without waiting for HDCP authentication.
Toshiba TV – Audio Description (AD)
Toshiba LCD’s have an integrated digital tuner capable of providing AD to digital programmes supporting the feature.
AD is an essential aid for anyone watching television that has a visual impairment. It should also prove useful to anyone who wants to know what’s happening on screen whilst their vision is directed elsewhere.
AD provides an additional narrative between the programme dialogues, describing all significant aspects of the scene on screen. It describes anything important to the understanding of the story, like facial expressions, clothing or even which characters are in the scene. AD is available on selected digital programmes.
Toshiba Television´s – Eco Panel
A specially sourced panel that makes the LCD TV run at a lower wattage than standard LCD which results in a reduction in power consumption, ultimately saving the consumer money.
Toshiba Televisions – Game Mode
This feature bypasses much of the picture processing technology required to enhance TV programmes and films, resulting in an improved response time and screen refresh rate.
Game Mode is compatible with any HDMI™ equipped games console and automatically adjusts the picture to deliver a more realistic game setting and importantly 1: 1 pixel mapping. This allows every last detail of the original image to be shown without cropping the edges.
Toshiba Telelvision – Full Power Down
In response to the concerns expressed by many consumers who would prefer to turn their TV off completely, we have fitted new models with an on/off switch.
